Positions from Telematics Systems

There are several ways to provide positions to PTV Drive&Arrive:

• feed it via API (position event and obutacho event) 

• use the free PTV Driver App to provide positions to a trip

There is also the posibility to get access to already existing telematics systems via our partner Agheera. Agheera runs a telematics consolidation service, that can collect data from your telematics systems as well as from different TSPs (Telematics Service Providers). After onboarding (registering) your devices there, we can use positions from these devices to calculate ETA for your trips.

These are the steps to take

• Onboarding of your telematics devices (one-time) with Agheera

• Create a trip in Drive&Arrive, where you define, that you want to receive positions from Agheera, for the license plate you specified, in the time frame you specified
• Positional data is then requested for these trips, restricted to the time of the trip. Drive&Arrive independently determines the likely next destination of a multi-stop trip, based on where the driver appears to be going, and recognises arrivals and departures. Completing the trip in the planned sequence improves the accuracy of the estimated time of arrival.

• Everything else is automatic:
  Transferred positions are used for ETA calculation only, but are not available for users
  States like Approaching, Arrived or Departed for the different stops are generated by the system automatically, based on estimations.

Note that in current state, it is experimental to use the feature with multistop trip, we recommend using it only for trips to a single target
